Riding into Spring with POE: A Day on Two Wheels
It would be a shame to leave spring locked outside the window. So this time, the POE team traded desks for bike paths, carried laughter into the lakeside breeze, and set off on a carefree ride through Shiyan Wetland Park. With every turn of the wheels, the scenery unfolded around us. Riding side by side, even familiar roads felt different—warmer, more alive. We stretched our bodies in the spring sunshine and found a quiet rhythm together, making this journey not just about the views, but about coming back refreshed and recharged.
The ride began lightly, from Happy Shawan to the Children's Playground. Soft white sand glowed in the sunlight, and laughter drifted from the wooden play structures—the whole stretch felt playful and relaxed.
As we pedaled on, we passed the Nature Education Center, a tunnel under the bridge, and a lakeside library. Lake breezes swept through the greenway, reeds swayed gently by the water, and now and then an egret glided into view—prompting us to slow our gaze and simply breathe. By the time we reached the area near Shiyan Bridge, the lake opened up before us, and the spring colors, the laughter, and the wind in our faces became all the more vivid.
But what truly made this ride memorable wasn't just the freedom of moving forward—it was the natural sense of connection that grew among us. We rode in small groups, not racing but keeping a steady pace that allowed everyone to stay together. At each checkpoint, we paused, waited for the whole group to gather, and then set off again with smiles.
A gentle "keep right" here, a glance back to check on others there, spontaneous group photos during short breaks—all these small moments added warmth to the ride and turned "riding side by side"from a phrase into a real experience. For the POE team, this kind of unspoken coordination isn't new; it's part of how we work together every day.
The value of this trip went beyond simply getting from start to finish. Along the lake and through the greenway, we temporarily set aside the pace of work, gave our attention back to the scenery, and shared a rare sense of ease with one another. The laughter along the way, the chats during stops, the comfortable familiarity of riding together—these gave the outing a meaning that went far deeper than a typical team event. It felt like a brief but bright pause—a chance to unwind in the spring air and bring the team a little closer, naturally and effortlessly.
When our wheels rolled back to the starting point, we had gathered far more than snapshots of spring scenery and smiling faces. What stayed with us was a renewed sense of lightness and energy.
For the POE team, this gathering was about carving out time amid our busy schedules to move forward together—and, in doing so, to build better momentum for what lies ahead. We'll carry the spring breeze, the lake views, and the sense of shared connection with us as we return to work and set our sights on new goals—refreshed, warm-hearted, and ready to keep moving forward.
