Joint Design
Manufacturing.

JDM is a partnership where POE participates in your product design — not just your manufacturing. We bring hardware engineering expertise to your project so you can build better products, faster, with fewer respins.

What POE Brings to Your Design

Our engineering team works alongside yours — contributing manufacturing knowledge, component expertise, and design optimization at every stage.

Schematic & Layout

PCB Design Review & Optimization

We review your schematic and PCB layout for manufacturability, signal integrity, and thermal performance. We identify issues before they become expensive — and suggest improvements that reduce cost and improve yield.

Component Engineering

BOM Optimization & Component Selection

We advise on component selection based on availability, lifecycle, cost, and manufacturability. We identify EOL risks, suggest alternatives, and help you build a BOM that will be sourceable at volume.

Stackup & Materials

PCB Stackup & Material Selection

We design the PCB stackup to meet your impedance, thermal, and cost requirements. Material selection for high-frequency, high-temperature, or flex applications — with manufacturing constraints built in from the start.

DFM / DFA

Design for Manufacturability

DFM and DFA analysis integrated into the design process — not applied after the fact. Pad geometry, stencil apertures, component spacing, and assembly orientation are all optimized for your production process.

Prototyping

Rapid Prototype & Iteration

Fast prototype builds to validate design changes. Because we are both the designer and the manufacturer, design-to-prototype cycles are faster — no handoff delays, no translation errors between teams.

Production Transfer

Seamless Design-to-Production Transfer

When your design is ready for production, there is no transfer process — we already know the product. The manufacturing package is built during the design phase, not after it.

JDM Process

From Concept to Production

01
Requirements & Specification
We work with you to define the product specification: performance requirements, form factor, target cost, regulatory requirements, and production volume. This becomes the foundation for all design decisions.
Joint
02
Architecture & Component Selection
We advise on system architecture, key component selection, and BOM strategy. Our sourcing team validates availability and pricing before the design is committed — avoiding costly changes later.
POE Advises
03
PCB Design & DFM Review
Your design team creates the schematic and layout. Our engineers review at each stage for manufacturability, signal integrity, and thermal performance. DFM issues are resolved in the design — not in production.
Joint Review
04
Prototype Build & Validation
We build prototypes using production-representative processes. Fast iteration cycles because design and manufacturing are in the same team. Issues are identified and resolved quickly.
POE Builds
05
Design Lock & Production Release
When the design is validated, we lock the BOM and manufacturing process. The production release package is already complete — no separate NPI process required. Production starts immediately.

Who It's For

JDM Is Right for You If...

JDM works best when you have a product vision but want manufacturing expertise built into the design process — not applied after the fact.

You have a software or systems team, not a hardware team
Your core competency is software, firmware, or systems integration. You need hardware built, but you want a manufacturing partner who can fill the hardware engineering gaps.
Your design has had multiple costly respins
Repeated prototype failures are often caused by DFM issues that a manufacturing partner would have caught in the design phase. JDM prevents the next respin.
You need to move faster than your current process allows
When design and manufacturing are separate teams, handoffs create delays. JDM eliminates the handoff — design and manufacturing happen in parallel.
You want to own your design IP
Unlike ODM, JDM keeps all design IP with you. POE contributes engineering expertise, but the design belongs to your company — you can take it anywhere.

JDM Project.

Do I retain ownership of my design IP?
Yes. All design IP remains yours. POE contributes engineering expertise and manufacturing knowledge, but the design belongs to your company. We can sign an NDA before any discussions begin.
What stage should I be at to start JDM?
JDM works best when you have a product concept and specification but have not yet committed to a final design. The earlier we are involved, the more value we can add.
How is JDM priced?
JDM engagements are scoped and priced based on the level of design involvement required. Contact us to discuss your project and we will provide a proposal.
